The 2011 Composite Engineering Show proved to be another successful event for John Burn.
The show provides the only UK centric composites event for companies involved in the design, supply and manufacture of composites and in only it's second year has proved once again that it is the only place to be when it comes to accessing this rapidly developing market.
John Burn took the opportunity to show case a number of key product ranges and highlight some significant sponsorhip partnerships including Project Torpedalo.
Sika Tooling & Composites is a principle manufacturing supplier to John Burn and it was great to be able to host Andy MacInally for the two days of the show. Andy also gave a presentation about epoxy resin developments in the marine industry as part of the Composites UK sponsored Open Forum.
John Burn also introduced the Sprayomer bio-based reusable vaccum bagging system to great acclaim. The Sprayomer system was by far the product our visitors were most interested in and with this in mind John Burn will be aiming to host a number of customer days to demonstrate the system for interested customers in the near future.
The Project Torpedalo goes from strength to strength and thanks to Curvature Group John Burn were able to display a scale model of the finished boat. Despite some slight delays in manufacturing the team have now managed to manufacture the boat with the help of many companies including Norco GRP, Curvature, MonsterCam and many others. The next step will be sea testing and then a new date for the crossing will need to be set so that the world record attempt can be made.
If you didn't manage to visit the show be sure to make a date in your diary for next years event as it really is developing into one of the best composite focused events in Europe.
Show dates for next year 7-8 November 2012 Birmingham NEC
